Gianni Mantovani

Gianni Mantovani was born in 1950 in Concordia (MO), where he currently resides. After completing his artistic studies in Modena and Bologna, he began teaching at the Liceo Artistico in Bologna at the age of 23. In 1991, he won a national competition and became Professor of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
During the 1990s, Mantovani developed a deep interest in tribal art, particularly African art. Pieces from his African art collection have been exhibited in Paris, Genoa, and Milan, and have appeared in books and magazines in France, England, Belgium, and the United States. This passion significantly influenced a creative shift in his work, and his new paintings began to feature simple, fantastical imagery. His landscapes, flowers, and natural scenes are rendered in primary, essential forms, drawing from memories and a dreamlike vision.
Mantovani’s works have been exhibited in both public and private venues throughout Europe. His art increasingly addresses environmental themes, reflecting his sense of urgency in confronting issues related to climate change and global warming.
