Paola Martelli
Giorgio Morandi was his teacher of etching. He lived and worked for many years in France, where he built relationships with leading figures in contemporary art. He began exhibiting in the 1950s, taking part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, the United States, and Japan.
His works employ a variety of materials—oil and tempera on canvas, iron, bronze, gold, and plexiglass—always driven by the enthusiasm to explore, study, and discover new solutions. His metalanguage is direct, his art immediate. With an underlying joy of life, his works convey a profound sense of optimism and a refined, ironic aesthetic, full of inspiration and evocative elements.
