Piero Fogliati’s creative activity is incessant. An artist well into his eighties, he has always been engaged in research on light, a pursuit that began when he was young and decided to fulfill his great dream: to paint the rain. Through his works, Piero Fogliati stitches together the fracture between art, science, philosophy, and spirituality—fractures that have been inexorably widening since the second half of the 18th century. His art is ancient yet incredibly contemporary, employing projects as a method of mediation between a fantastical world nourished by free imagination and the real world, sensitive to the five senses and subject to material transformations. He constructs machines, instruments, and artworks designed to evoke the State of Wonders.
