Sergio Nelly Aglietti

He was born on February 14, 1925, in San Clemente, Rignano sull’Arno. After achieving success in the field of advertising graphics, he retired to the countryside in Santa Brigida. There, encouraged by his friend Silvestro Pistolesi—who was the first student of the master Pietro Annigoni—he began to explore and develop the themes of his painting. He immersed himself in the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings, which ultimately inspired and shaped his artistic style. His journey is a testament to the importance of following one’s passions and staying true to one’s artistic vision.
This is how his beautiful Tuscan landscapes were born, along with splendid sanguine drawings depicting motherhood and vibrant paintings of sunflowers, his great passion. However, it was his careful observation of humanity that provided the primary inspiration for his work: love. His art reflects the beauty and complexity of human emotions, relationships, and experiences, capturing the very essence of what it means to be human. Through his paintings, he conveys a powerful message of love and compassion, inspiring and touching the hearts of many.
And so begins his pictorial poem in seven voices and seven musical notes, “The Last Canticle of the Century.”
Unfortunately, fate did not allow him to complete it due to his untimely passing in May 2000.
