Vanni Rocca
The story of Vanni Rocca captures the essence of a life transformed by the power of art.
Born on May 9, 1978, in Sennori—a small hill town in northwestern Sardinia—he entered the world of art unexpectedly, through a twist of fate that redrew his life’s path.
It is as if the shapes and colors of his homeland lay dormant within him, waiting for the moment to awaken and demand expression.
In 2017, at the age of 39, Vanni discovered painting by sheer chance and was immediately captivated by it. During this time, he spent his days working in the IT field, while his newfound passion came alive at night.
Vanni’s dedication to refining his craft led him to develop a distinctive style, characterized by softly layered brushstrokes, bold lines, and thick layers of color. His portraits, to which he devotes himself almost exclusively, unfold through an essential narrative conveyed primarily through facial lines and the depth of the gaze.
A new chapter in his life began: Vanni made the courageous decision to leave behind the security of a well-established career in IT to pursue painting full time. This marked his declaration that art is not just a part of his life—it is his life.
Over the years, he has become a multi-award-winning artist, with his works exhibited in solo and group shows throughout Italy. In his quest for cross-cultural exchange and growth, he ventured beyond Sardinia to explore Europe’s rich cultural mosaic. And yet, despite his many travels and varied experiences, the essence of Sardinia remains at the heart of his art: Vanni’s work is a testament to the truth that no matter how far we go, our roots continue to shape and define us.
